Tonbridge High Street looks convenient, but the chargeable bays by Castle Street are short stay only and run Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm, with no return within two hours. That is fine for a quick errand, not for unloading a van into a flat above the shops. If you’re moving into the town centre, agree a proper stopping plan with your removal company instead of assuming the van can sit on the High Street while the job runs.

The sportsground car park on Darenth Avenue has a 2 metre height barrier, so it will not work for many standard removal vans. It is also shared with Tonbridge Angels, which makes matchdays a poor time to rely on it. If someone suggests meeting there, check the van height first and have a fallback ready before move day.

If you’re moving around The Slade, the castle side of town or the older streets near the river, open-air parking is usually easier to work with than trying to squeeze a van into the wrong car park. Lower Castle Field, Upper Castle Field and Castle Grounds are all open-air council car parks, and all three charge every day from 8am to 8pm. That makes them more realistic fallback options for vans, especially if your removal company cannot stop directly outside the property.

One of the small things that catches people out in Tonbridge is assuming the parking problem is over once unloading starts. Angel West, Sovereign Way Mid and the Castle Field car parks all charge every day from 8am to 8pm, and the council pages make clear they are managed through RingGo or ticket machines, with a maximum stay of 23 hours in the long-stay sites. If your movers are using one of those car parks, keep the session live until the van is actually done and ready to leave.

If your removal company is coming in from outside Tonbridge, a problem on the A21 can change the day before the van even reaches town. National Highways says its travel updates and Traffic England tools are there to help drivers check live incidents and planned closures before travelling. That is worth checking on move morning, especially if your booking is tight on key handover time or already depends on smooth town-centre access once the van arrives.
