Pollokshields is Glasgow’s most popular area for home-movers, with just over 5% of people moving to the city choosing the area.
Konnect You analysed moving data from more than 1,400 people who relocated to Glasgow. Pollokshields came out on top, followed by Hillhead, Partick, East Kilbride and Cambuslang.
Most areas in the top 10 saw demand fall, with Newton Mearns and Merchant City the only locations to record growth.

Pollokshields took the top spot, despite seeing fewer home-movers than the previous year.
Its average house price is £280,265, making it cheaper than Hillhead and Finnieston, but more expensive than nearby Partick.
Hillhead ranked second, attracting 4.84% of home-movers. It also has one of the highest average house prices and rents in the top 10, which may explain why demand has softened.
Newton Mearns saw the strongest growth, with mover demand rising by 32.4%. Merchant City also grew, with a 12.2% increase.

“The drop in home-movers to Glasgow’s most popular areas could be good news for buyers and renters. If demand continues to soften, we may see house prices and rental costs ease in sought-after neighbourhoods such as Pollokshields, Hillhead and Partick.
“That said, I do not expect these areas to keep declining. If prices do dip, interest is likely to pick up again and mover numbers should recover.
“For anyone considering a move to Glasgow, it may be worth moving earlier rather than waiting.”

The two areas seeing growth are very different. Newton Mearns has the highest buying and rental costs in the list, while Merchant City has the lowest average house price. This suggests home-movers are not making decisions on price alone.
For anyone planning a move in Glasgow, the data shows why it is worth looking beyond the ranking. House prices, rent, property type, transport, lifestyle and long-term affordability can all affect which area feels right.
