Broomhill is Sheffield’s most popular area for home-movers, with 10% of people moving to the city choosing the area.
Konnect You analysed moving data from more than 1,300 people who relocated to Sheffield. Broomhill came out on top, followed by Woodseats, Hillsborough, Manor and Sheffield City Centre.
Broomhill also saw the biggest rise in mover demand, closely followed by Woodseats and Sheffield City Centre.

Broomhill took the top spot, despite having one of the highest average house prices and rents in the top 10.
Its average house price is £366,481. That is more than £100,000 higher than Woodseats, which ranked second, and over £240,000 higher than Sheffield City Centre.
This suggests affordability is not the main reason people are choosing Broomhill. Location, lifestyle and access to key employers may be playing a bigger role.
Broomhill saw the biggest annual increase in the top 10, with mover demand rising by 24%.
Woodseats followed closely with a 23% rise, while Sheffield City Centre saw a 22% increase. Manor also grew by 13%.
By contrast, Mosborough, Hillsborough and Ecclesall all saw demand fall, with Mosborough recording the largest drop in the top 10.

“Broomhill has a lot going for it as a place to live. It offers a residential feel while staying closely connected to the city centre, and it also has its own bars, restaurants and entertainment.
“However, I think its biggest advantage is its location near the university and the hospital. There is a steady influx of students each year, and both institutions are major employers, so it makes sense that many people want to live close to where they study or work.
“While Broomhill’s location helps explain why it has become Sheffield’s most popular place to move to, the rise in home-movers may also be linked to falling house prices. If demand continues to grow, Broomhill property prices could rise again.”
Broomhill is Sheffield’s most popular area for home-movers, but the wider picture is mixed.
Some of the strongest growth came from areas with very different price points, from Broomhill to Sheffield City Centre. This suggests people are moving for different reasons, from lifestyle and work links to affordability and access to the city.
For anyone planning a move in Sheffield, it is worth looking beyond the ranking alone. House prices, rent, commute, local amenities, schools and long-term affordability can all affect which area feels right.
